Beginner Ballet

Purpose: Familiarize students with the foundational positions of the feet and arms in ballet.

  • First Position: Heels together, toes turned out. Arms rounded in front of the body.
  • Second Position: Feet turned out with heels about hip-width apart. Arms rounded and slightly wider than first position.
  • Third Position: One foot placed in front of the other, heel touching the arch of the back foot. Arms as in first position.
  • Fourth Position: One foot in front of the other with a small gap between them. Arms rounded and held slightly to the sides.

Practice moving between these positions, emphasizing proper alignment and turnout.
